Frederick E. Donovan

Frederick E. Donovan, Jr., 72, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Akron General Medical Center after a brief illness.
Fred was born September 21, 1940 to Frederick and Mary (Palmer) Donovan, Sr. in Canton and had been an area resident his entire life. He drove for Yellow Freight for 15 years, retiring in 2004.
Fred had coached youth baseball for ten years, but his passion was football. He coached youth football Highland and Kenmore for 30 years. He loved the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Fred is survived by his beloved wife, Pennie (Steward); sons, Jim (Karin), David (Holly), Frederick Donovan III; daughter, Stephanie Donovan; sister, Judy Donovan; and grandchildren, Bradley, Megan, Kelly, Steven and Erin.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St., Akron. A Celebration of Fred's life will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Private interment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Canton.
