Obituary

Frank Thomas Podojil, born on December 8th, 1988, died unexpectedly on November 25th, 2023. Frank is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Podojil; his grandparents, Clifford and Marie Podojil and Milton and Dorothy Marten; as well as several beloved aunts and uncles. Frank is survived by his wife, Kourtney Podojil (Suggs); his mother, Elizabeth Podojil (Marten); his sisters, Candace Warren (Kevin Warren) and Lara Wise (Joel Wise); his best friend, Scott Thornton; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and brothers-in-law; countless friends; and his cat, Tyson.

Born to Thomas and Elizabeth Podojil, Frank grew up in a loving home, and a home that he loved in return, in Richfield, Ohio. He graduated from Revere High School in 2007. Frank met the love of his life, Kourtney, in the fall of 2008, and they were married on October 28, 2021 in a private ceremony in Hocking Hills, Ohio. Frank and Kourtney recently celebrated two wonderful years of marriage and fifteen incredible years together.

Frank's childhood was a happy one. His days were spent exploring the neighborhood with his best friend, hanging out in the basement playing video games, and spending time with his loving family around the dinner table. He was a part of the local Boy Scout troop and played baseball from a young age through high school. During his teen years, Frank worked at the family's model train shop, Warren's Model Trains, where he offered endless support to his dad, gained an extensive knowledge of train parts, and traveled all over the midwest. As an adult, Frank focused on building a life for himself and Kourtney filled with love, fun, kindness, and happiness. Frank and Kourtney found joy in trying new recipes together, watching old episodes of Jeopardy!, playing board games, and simply spending time in each other's company.

Frank's days were composed of the things and people he loved. When not spending time with his wife and cat, Frank loved to explore alternate worlds and take on new adventures in video games. From Mario to Zelda to Grand Theft Auto and beyond, Frank was a hero who rescued Princess Peach and defeated Ganon while occasionally creating mayhem in Los Santos. His most recent video game accomplishments include defeating nearly every iteration of Bowser, saving Hyrule for the third time, and completing the remake of one of his favorite childhood games, Super Mario RPG. In addition to his heroics on screen, Frank was a hero to his wife, sisters, mother and friends. He was always there to save the day or offer a kind and understanding ear.

When he wasn't playing video games, Frank was probably playing his records. Frank's love of music was inspired by his mother, shared by his wife and expressed through an extensive record collection with artists like David Bowie, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, and George Thorogood in constant rotation. Frank and Kourtney saw the Pink Floyd cover band, Wish You Were Here, many times and especially loved listening to "Pigs on the Wing (Parts 1 and 2)" together.

Frank was a gentle, jovial, and kind person who had the rare gift of making those around him feel good, loved, and appreciated just by being himself . Frank was never afraid to tell those he loved how he felt, and he encouraged that same openness in others. He was incredibly committed to nurturing his relationships and taking care of the people around him. He was a devoted husband to his wife, a caring son to his mother, a best friend to his sisters, and a comfort to all who knew him. Frank will be forever loved and missed by his family and friends.
