Frank A. Monago

Frank A. Monago Sr. was born in Akron, Ohio on December 21, 1941, and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 17, 2024.
Frank graduated from St. Mary's High School (Akron, Ohio) in 1959 and was married to Rose Marie Pozonitz on September 2, 1961. They would go on to be married for nearly 62 years until her passing in March of 2023.
He was a loving dad to four children: Laura (Tim) Wolfe, Liz (Paul) Engelhardt, Frank Jr. (Natalie) Monago, Karen (Marty) Marinos; grandfather of eight grandchildren: Ashley (Jim) Leasure, Heather (David) Baker, Chloe Wolfe, Grace Monago, Cole Monago, Mitchell Marinos, Malia Marinos, and Leo Tudas; and papa of two great-grandchildren, Brielle and Callie Baker.
Frank graduated from the University of Akron in 1963 with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. He worked his entire career at URS Consultants in Akron, Ohio where he was Vice President of the engineering firm until his retirement in December of 2006. Frank was also a co-owner of The Goddard Schools in Akron and Jackson Township with his daughter, Karen and son-in-law, Marty.
Frank enjoyed going to monthly breakfasts with his high school friends. He loved thrifting at the local flea markets searching for Hot Wheels cars, keeping a list of the cars he still needed on a sticky note in his wallet. Frank especially enjoyed going out to eat with his family and always saved room for dessert. He watched Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and never missed an episode of Tracker.
Frank was always willing to set the table for holiday dinners with the family, and he was the first one to taste test the Christmas cookies. He never missed an event for his children while growing up and that continued with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was their #1 fan.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Anthony Funeral Home on Main Street in Akron from 6 - 8 pm.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 25, 2024 at 11 am at the funeral home.
