Frances Labelle (Thomas) Kalapodis

July 27, 1930 — December 31, 2022

Frances Kalapodis passed away peacefully and was received into the arms of the Lord on December 31, 2022.
Frances was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and Akron Women's City Club. She was a graduate of the University of Akron. She earned a B.S., M.S. Ed. Diagnosis & Correction of Reading Difficulties and was distinguished teacher, curriculum specialist and administrator in the Akron Public School System. She was a Principal for Lincoln, Lawndale and Essex Elementary.
She also served for many years as a Franklin Township Trustee and with her late husband Gust, a Ward 4 Councilman, worked to enable Franklin Township become the municipality of New Franklin for the benefits it provided the citizens of their community. One of her many joys was to be an advisor for the New Franklin Civic Center, Tudor House. Frances was a lover and prolific writer of poetry, creating many works for friends, family and associates and was honored to be in several of the International Editions of Who's Who in Poetry.
Frances Labelle Kalapodis (nee Thomas) was born July 27, 1930 in Akron, Ohio. Frances leaves to cherish her memory, sister Wandora Smith (nee Thomas), brother Gary (Kathy) Thomas; children; Larry (Patricia) Lawson, Susan (Paul) Amato, Georgene Kalapodis. Frances had 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gust Kalapodis and her two children, Denise Ferrell, and John Kalapodis.
A special thanks to Beth Hutzell-Redhead and Rhonda Williams. Both ladies brought joy to Frances' life every day. A special thanks to Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral home of Akron for taking great care of Frances.
Calling hours will be Wednesday January 4th at 10:00 AM at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church 129 S. Union St. Akron, Ohio 44304. Church service will follow at 11:00 AM at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greek Orthodox Church.
