Ferdinand "Fred" Alexander

August 13, 1931 — November 22, 2017

Ferdinand "Fred" Alexander, Sr., 86, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Akron City Hospital Palliative Care. Ferdinand was born August 13, 1931 to George and Katherine Alexander in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia and came to the United States in 1959. He was employed as a glazier by North Hill Glass for over 40 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. Ferdinand was preceded in death by his wife Christa (Zirm) in 1994, brother John and dear friend Hedwig Faltiska. He is survived by his children Ferdinand "Fred" Alexander, Jr., Michael (Kim) Alexander and Karen (Rob) Sunday; sister-in-law Clara Alexander; grandchildren Michael (Samantha), Jacob and Scott Alexander and great grandchild Haylee. Ferdinand was a founding member of the German Family Society. He loved to fish, owning his own boat and enjoyed many great days at Apple Valley Lake. We are especially grateful for the loving care given our father by the nurses at Summa Hospice. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 30, 2017, 4 to 7 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron OH 44301 where funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 am. Inurnment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Summa Acute Palliative Care, PO Box 2090 Akron OH 44309-2090 (Anthony, AKRON)
