Emil Bologa

Emil Bologa, 87, fell asleep in the Lord at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 6, 2016.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Kathleen; sons and best friends, Robert (Denise) and their child, Benjamin and Joseph (Amy) and their children, Luke, Rachel, Abigail, Anna, Mark and Rebecca. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Emil lived his entire life in the Akron area and was employed at the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company as a plant manager for 30 years. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed spending time at his farm in West Virginia and dedicating himself to working endless hours unselfishly with his church family at the Presentation of Our Lord Romanian Orthodox Church. He was extremely active in the parish working the weekly fish fry's, serving on the Parish Council and holding the office of Vice President for two terms as well as being a youth advisor for several years with his wife. However, he was best known for being the church "maintenance man" throughout the 1980's and 90's. He was also a proud 60 year member of the Grand Lodge of Free Masons. Emil was a good friend to many and respected by everyone. He never met a stranger and could leave a great, lasting impression on anyone that he would come in contact with. His wit and charm made him a favorite with kids and especially his own grandchildren. He will be sorely missed. Special thank you to Dr. Erwin Maseelall for taking care of Emil for 35 years.
Funeral service will be held Friday, September 9, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Presentation of Our Lord Orthodox Church, 3365 Ridgewood Rd. Fairlawn, Ohio 44333 where Emil will lie in state one hour prior to service. Very Rev. Dr. Ian G. Pac-Urar officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. AT THE CHURCH where a Saracusta service will be held at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made be made to the Presentation of Our Lord Church.
