Elizabeth Jean Taber

January 15, 1925 — May 25, 2016

Elizabeth (Betty) Jean Taber, 91, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Akron City Hospital.
Betty was born January 15, 1925 to Charles and Edna (Basford) McVicker in Noble County, Ohio and had been an area resident most of her life. She was a long time member of St. Paul Catholic Church and past president of their Social Solitaires and Ladies Guild. She was active in Girl Scout Leadership. She was a member and past president of Firestone Park Seniors, Green AARP and was a tour guide for Akron Parks and Recreation. She enjoyed euchre clubs, poker clubs and birthday clubs and volunteered for many organizations including Ronald McDonald House.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband John in 1985, sons Dennis and Michael; daughter Linda; and siblings Bernadine Witt and Bernard McVicker. She is survived by her children Robert (Mary Kay) Taber and Nancy Harbarger; grandchildren Brian Taber, Steve (Vada) Harbarger, Jeffery Taber, Amanda Snyder and Jennifer Harbarger; great grandchildren Paige and Jacob Harbarger, Anika Snyder, John and Jack Lancia and Keegan and Ava Marie Taber.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11:00 am at St. Paul Catholic Church 1580 Brown St. Akron OH 44301. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron from 9:30 to 10:30 am.
