Elizabeth "Bettie" Ruip finished her earthly journey and entered her heavenly home on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at The Homestead of Gentlebrook in Hartville.
Bettie was born May 5, 1925 to Val and Julia (Corbett) Form in Akron and has been an area resident her entire life. She retired from the Ohio Bell Telephone Co. after 34 years of service. She was a member of the Bell Telephone Choir and the Telephone Pioneers, serving as president of the St. Petersburg, FL group during retirement.
She was a member of Nativity of the Lord Jesus Catholic Church and its Women's Bible Study Group. Bettie loved to read, sew, and travel with numerous trips to Italy to visit family.
Bettie was preceded in death by her husband Mike of 60 years in 2006 and sisters Kathleen Macchiarole, Margaret (Frang) Koncz, and Johannah Kacsanek. She is survived by her sons Terry (Pat) and David (Penny) Ruip, grandchildren Jackie (Mark) Rutherford, Kelly (Vince) Greer, Kathy (Chris) Norfolk, Nick (Jenn) and Dan (Katie) Ruip, 14 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins here and in Italy.
The family is grateful to The Homestead and to Absolute Hospice for their loving care of our mother for the past three years.
The family will receive family and friends Friday, December 3, 2021 from 10 to 11:00 am at Nativity Catholic Church, 2425 Myersville Rd, Akron, OH 44312 and will follow with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. A luncheon will immediately follow the Mass, and interment will be held at 2:30 pm at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nativity Catholic Church or the Alzheimer's Association at act.alz.org/site/Donation2?df_id=32112&32112.donation=form1
