And what does the Lord require of you, But to act justly, and to love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God? (Micah 6:8) Elizabeth Payne, 92, passed away on January 28, 2018. Betty was born in Akron, Ohio on February 21, 1925, to John and Isabelle McKendrick of Scotland. She graduated from Kenmore High School and lived her entire life in the Akron area. She was a lifelong member of Park United Methodist Church in Kenmore. Betty was married to David Canning for 27 years until his death in 1973. Together they raised four children in Kenmore. She was never happier than when her home was full of children. Later she married Robert Payne and welcomed his two children into her heart. Betty was preceded in death by husbands David Canning and Robert Payne, son Robert Payne, Jr., brothers Donny, James, and Tom McKendrick, and sisters Kitty Fish and Helen Akers. Betty is survived by son James (Marty) Canning, daughters Janet Canning, Carol (Darrell) Hogue, Catherine (Douglas) Schwall and DJ (Dave) Maggio; grandchildren Emily (Eric) Dean, David (Erin) Hogue, Michael (Amanda) Hogue, Brian Schwall, Kevin Schwall, Deanna Maggio, Tony Maggio, daughter-in-law Wanda Payne (Larry) States, and three great-grandchildren: Ben, Sam, and Harper Hogue. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Betty McKendrick and Eleanor Canning, as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Hospice of Medina County. Visitation will take place Thursday, 5-8 pm, at the Anthony Funeral Home, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, where funeral services will be held on Friday, 11 am, officiated by Rev. Pam Buzalka. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
