Obituary

Our much loved mother, grandmother and great grand-mother "GG" passed to eternal life in her 95th year on March 30, 2021. Eileen Rose, the daughter of Christian and Martha (Dimmerling) Schafer left us all a legacy of how to live. Her family was her #1 priority. All who knew her loved her positive attitude and smiling face. She lived most of her life in Firestone Park. Tending her beautiful flower garden was her pride and joy, bringing her much contentment. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. She and Sr. Lucy Rachan started Little Parish Bible Study which Eileen often hosted in her home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Virgil, in 1994; son, Patrick; great grandson, Henry Babe Flossie; sisters, Vera Anthon, Rosemary Davis, and Evelyn Hardwick; brother, Harold Schafer; and son-in-law, Bob Herlin. Eileen is survived by her daughters, Diane (Bruce) Cochran of Cedarville, MI, Carol Herlin of Jupiter, FL, and Nancy (Ben) Flossie of Akron; brother, Donald (Linda) Schafer of Akron; grandchildren, Nathan (Courtney) Flossie of Green, Emily (Dave) Slater of Cedarville, MI, Brittney (Ryan) Hurley of Green, Meredith (Derek) Witten of Durham, NC, and Caroline (Colin) Holmes of Oakville, ON, Canada; great grandchildren, Kayl, Marshall and Lewis Flossie; Elliette and Reagan Slater; Rylan, Quinn and Phiona Hurley; Caleb and Hannah Holmes; Gabriel Witten; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. With gratitude, the family recognizes the companionship and care given to Eileen by the staff and residents of The Village of St. Edward's in Green. Her family also thanks staff at Cleveland Clinic/Akron General and its Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center for the serenity and calm care offered. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Village of St. Edward in Green or St. Paul Church, Eileen's parish for 65 years.
