GREEN - Edward J. Seliga, 99, passed away peacefully at the Gables of Green on February 3, 2023 after a long and happy life.
Edward was a lifetime resident of Akron, retiring from Goodyear Aerospace in 1984 after 32 years of service. He served in the US Army during WWII and was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received as a result of enemy action in France.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Julia Seliga; his brother Fr. John Seliga and his beloved wife of 70 years, Mary. He is survived by his sons Tom (Janet) and Jim; grandchildren Kimberly Ruyle, Matthew Seliga and Corbin Seliga; great-grandsons Gideon, Aden, Judah, & Sullivan Seliga and Henry Ruyle.
Ed enjoyed golfing, playing cards, dancing, traveling, and spending the winter months in Frostproof, FL. He was a lifetime member of the N. Canton Elks Lodge #2029.
The family would like to thank the Gables of Green Assisted Living Facility and the Hospice of Summa for the exceptional care.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 10, from 10 am to 11 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 1055 Brown St. in Akron, where a Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow.
Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. John the Baptist or to the Ronald McDonald House of Akron (Anthony, AKRON)
