Edward Patrick Marsh

Edward P. Marsh, born November 9, 1953, returned home with the Lord on January 30, 2023. Born in Akron, OH he lived in the Akron & Stow area most of his life. Born to William John and Mary Marsh (nee Mackey). Ed was raised in the Akron area until the age of 13, when he was sent out to Father Flanagan's Boys Town in NE. After a challenging childhood, he and his two younger brothers were sent to Boys Town to fulfill Father Flanagan's mission of helping struggling young people to grow into responsible, caring members of society. While at Boys Town, he excelled academically, socially, and athletically. He played football, baseball, and basketball. His athletic career was highlighted as the starting QB in football and a tough left-handed pitcher for the baseball team. During his senior year, Ed was elected as the village's mayor. He prided his term on running the village with a diverse cabinet. After graduating from Boys Town in 1972, he returned home to Akron, and brought his two younger brothers with him. Upon his return, Ed soon met the love of his life, (Rose) Lyn Crano at a party with friends. The two fell in love and were married in 1974. Lyn was a special part of Ed's life and they had a beautiful, fulfilling marriage that was key to their happiness. Lyn took great care of Ed over the years and the two enjoyed spending time with countless friends. They enjoyed playing weekend card games and many bunco games. Ed is truly grateful for her love and support over their almost 50 years together. They had two sons, Vincent, and Nicholas. Ed was a hard-working man who was employed by Goodyear for most of his life. He spent long hours working the area factories, but always made time to enjoy dinner with his family and supporting his sons sports activities. He loved watching Vince and Nick play sports throughout their childhood. He was an active father who helped coach them in baseball and basketball. He was their biggest fan watching them play football. One of Ed's proudest moments as a father, was watching his oldest son Vince earn 1st Team All-Ohio in football in 1996. Ed continued to have a deep impact on his boys as they grew into adulthood, becoming best friends and speaking to them daily. Later in life, he was a proud grandpa to Nick and Rose's children. He enjoyed watching Edward, Guinevere, Joseph, and Samantha grow up. Once again, he was their biggest sports fan as they played basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, and football. As a Grandpa, he had a profound impact on them by his presence and love for them. It was hard to control him as a Grandpa because he always thought of them and wanted to do extra for them! Much later in life, Ed developed some health issues. Over the years, he battled cancer, diabetes, and vascular disease. After so many years of taking care of others, it was time for someone to take care of Ed. His oldest son Vince assumed this role and sacrificed so much of his life to always make sure that his Dad had the best care. With the help of Nick, the two boys shouldered all that they could to help him through many health challenges over the years. Thanks to Vince's kindness, love, and care, Ed was able to live a higher quality of life despite his health challenges. Vince always made sure to give his parents the best and like his Dad, he never wanted any thanks or recognition. Ed was a selfless person, whose life was a sacrifice to his family. He never sought recognition or wanted any thanks. He wanted to do for others and make them feel loved. Ed is survived by Rose Lyn (Crano), his loving wife of 48 years. His two sons, Vincent Marsh and Nicholas (Rose) Marsh; Grandchildren Edward, Guinevere, Joseph, and Samantha Marsh; and many loving brothers, sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 2, from 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel 247 Stow Ave. (at Third St., one block north of Portage Trail in) Cuyahoga Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Feb. 3, at 11:00 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church 1905 Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls.
