Edward Agnoni, 88, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Alliance, Ohio, on August 29, 1938, "Big Ed" graduated from Mount Union College, where he was a member of the men's basketball team. He proudly served his country in the National Guard before beginning a long career with Babcock & Wilcox.
Ed was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Doylestown. A first-generation Italian American, he traveled to Italy many times with his family to visit relatives and friends. Ed enjoyed all things Italian, including Roman history, the language, genealogy, and, above all, the food.
Ed was known for always having a smile on his face and for his wonderful sense of humor. He looked for the good in others, gave generously, and took a genuine interest in everyone he met. Ed made a point of connecting with people for the purpose of letting them know they mattered.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Tina; best friend and son, Michael (Michelle) Agnoni; devoted daughter, Lisa (Jason) King; and his loving daughter, Angie Agnoni. He also leaves behind the joys of his life, granddaughters, Cori and Monica Agnoni; sister-in-law, Barbara Metzgar; and nephew, Donnie Metzgar.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Agnoni; sisters, Leah and Clara Agnoni; brother, Romulus Agnoni; in-laws, Bernard and Catherine Bonacci; sister-in-law, Margaret Bonacci; and his favorite brother-in-law, Donald Metzgar.
The family would like to thank Dr. Douglas Wenger, the care teams at Summa Barberton Hospital and Hospice, and the many acts of love and kindness from friends.
Our dad endured a courageous battle to the very end. Even in his most difficult moments, he did his best to ease our grief by keeping us smiling and laughing when we needed it most. He was the best dad anyone could ask for, and we are forever grateful for the many wonderful years of love, laughter, and happiness we shared. He will remain in the hearts of our family, always surrounded by love.
In keeping with Ed's wishes, a private burial will take place with his immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ed's name to The Order of Sons and Daughters of Italy in America, Akron Lodge 685, 418 Keith Ave., Akron, OH 44313, or Doylestown Community Cupboard, 153 Church Street, Doylestown, OH 44230.
