Edna Marie (Saffel) Thornton

-SAVANNAH, GA
Edna Marie Thornton, 73, passed away peacefully on January15, 2021 in Savannah, GA.
She was born on December 16, 1947 to the late Fred & Rose Saffel (who passed away in an automobile accident in 1954). Uncle John & Aunt Frorrie raised her & Phyllis with their three children as their own. Edna graduated from Springfield High School & retired from St. Joseph Hospital in Savannah.
In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband Frank Thornton; dad John & mom Florrie Saffel; brother Larry H. Saffel, as well as one half sister and two half brothers.
Edna never met a stranger. She was kind, generous, sociable, & very loving. Edna loved and cared for her family deeply.
She leaves behind son Carl P. (April) Thornton; grandchildren Allen & Shaylin; sisters Phyllis (Bob) Holmes, Sharon (Bill) Schoener, & Joyce (Carl) Schuckert, as well as many nieces & nephews and the entire Thornton family.

Cremation has taken place and Edna will be laid to rest at Hillside Memorial Park in Akron. A Celebration of Edna's Life will take place this summer, Covid permitting.
