Dovie Jewel Schneider, age 99 years, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Greenview Assisted Living on the afternoon of May 30, 2026, with family and caregivers at her side. Dovie was born the fourth child of Roscoe and Lessie Meadows on February 7, 1927, at Pineknob in Raleigh County, West Virginia. She grew up in a large close family and extended family in the mountain area of Coral River in West Virginia; and in her late teens she came to Akron Ohio to live with family and friends.

Dovie began her 30-year career at Goodyear Tire& Rubber Company in 1956 as a microfilm operator and elected to retire as Personal Records Clerk in 1986. Following retirement, she joined her husband Richard in Ocala FL and made her home in Florida for the next 35 years. Dovie was active in her retirement while traveling with her husband, volunteer work with VFW Honor Guard Post 4781 and Hospice, countless cruises, and socializing with her many friends. She was a Charter Member of the National World War II Museum in honor of her husband and brothers.

Dovie was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Lessie Meadows; husband Richard Schneider; former husbands, Walter Lake, C.B. Owens; her brothers, sisters and spouses; Arliss, Oncie (Irene), Ruby (Roy), Dolly (Ed), Arlene (Charles), Claude (Connie), and Janet (Vic); sons-in-law Peter Vig and Steve Humphrey; and beloved nephews and nieces: Larry Wayne, Randy, Johnnie, Gary, Mike and Tina.

Dovie is survived by her three daughters, Lois Jeannie D'Aurora of N. Carolina, Dovie Anne Humphrey of Florida, and Linda Gails Sell of Ohio; grandchildren, Michael Sharrit (Lisa) of Jacksonville FL, Alan D'Aurora (Robie) of Lancaster OH, Wendi Lynn Spear (John) of Atlanta GA, Anna Kathleen D'Aurora of Venice Beach FL; great-grandchildren, Haley, Emmie and Ryan Sharrit and Jake and Bella Spear; sons-in-law Tom Sharrit and Jim Terrell, and a host of beloved nephews and nieces, cousins and friends; and dear friend of many years, Lee Wiggins of Florida.

Dovie was a devoted family matriarch and friend to all. She loved to joke and laugh. In her younger days, she never missed a chance to dance.

As Dovie wished, no calling hours or funeral service will be held. Dovie's family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Cardiologist Dr. Glenn Black, and the staff of Greenview Assisted Living and Hospice for the excellent and compassionate care provided for Dovie.
