Douglas 'Doug' Bowman, 35, passed away unexpectedly on July 3, 2025 from an infection.
Doug was born in Akron, Ohio on December 6, 1989 and grew up in Cuyahoga Falls. He was a 2008 graduate of Walsh Jesuit High School, where he was a proud member of the football team and was very involved in the Labre project. Doug continued his studies in engineering at both The University of Toledo and The University of Akron, although he fell just short of graduating due to a diagnosis of a rare syndrome that he fought courageously for over ten years.
Doug loved being part of a big family and going on large family vacations, intense poker nights, cousin sleepovers, and any sort of family party brought the biggest smile to his face. Doug had a wicked sense of humor, seemed to know every lyric of every song ever, and could remember every obscure fact about anything he had ever learned - which was a lot. He combined all of this into frequent puns and wordplay that made sure you stayed on your toes during every conversation.
Doug was incredibly caring and the most authentic person you could meet. He was passionate about many things, and his focus was always on what made him and the people he cared about happy and not on what anyone else thought.
Doug is survived by his mother, Annamarie Bowman, his father Don (Robin) Bowman, sister Kristen (Matt) Alloway, brother Nick (Laurie) Bowman, and his twin brother Danny (Roxanne) Bowman. Doug was the proudest and best uncle to his nephews Benny, Jacob, Oliver, Luke, and Jonathan, and niece Hazel. Doug is also survived by his very large extended family, including his grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles, and over forty first cousins, as well as his pup Walter, and bonus family Al, Meme, Gabriela, Anthony, and Olivia.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Cleveland Clinic, as well as his primary care doctor and team, that took care of Doug over the years. Donations can be made in Doug's name to Encephalitis International.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 9, from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home - Falls Chapel, located at 247 Stow Ave in Cuyahoga Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 10 at 10:00 am, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1905 Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls.
