Douangvanna Daravongsouk

Douangvanna Daravongsouk, 91, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026.

Douangvanna was born in Vientiane, Laos on January 25, 1935, and was raised with his little brother and three little sisters. He served in the Royal Lao Armed Forces during the 1960s and 70s, where he would come to meet his wife, My, selling fruits and vegetables at her family's stall. It was love at first Pho. Douangvanna and My would marry on February 1, 1974 in Vientiane where they would live until 1982 before immigrating to the United States with their two children, Bao and Bee, through refugee camps from Thailand to the Philippines while contributing to the refugee community as one of the Neighborhood Livelihood Leaders before settling in Akron, Ohio and reuniting with families and friends. His love would continue to grow even more when his little girl, Vera, was born and bringing their daughter, Lomkham, to America. Douangvanna would find profession at Heyden Mold & Bench Co as a machinist and polisher before retiring in 2000 and living a peaceful retirement as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, and gardener.

Douangvanna is survived by his wife My; sons Vantharang (Bao) and Vannapha (Bee); daughters Vera (Vela) and Lomkham (Kham); grandchildren Raymond, Paula, Chance, and Eli. He was preceded in death by his father Cidah and his mother Malah.

Calling hours will be on Friday, June 26, 2026 from 12-1 PM at the Anthony Funeral Home - Akron Chapel, 1990 S Main St in Akron, with a funeral service to be held following at 1PM. Friends and family are welcome to join the family for food and to celebrate the life of Douangvanna at the family's home following the service.
