Dorothy "Dottie" Presnar, 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2026.
Dottie was married for 33 years to the love of her life, soul mate, and best friend, Frank Presnar, who passed away in 1989. She was also preceded in death by her father Walton Linn and her mother, Mildred.
Dorothy leaves behind, daughter of her heart, Becki Haller; Godchild Kathy Mowry; and many nieces and nephews.
We will deeply miss this woman of grace and beauty inside and out. A true conversationalist, Dottie was dynamic and social in nature. She had an empathetic ear and sincere interest in others. She had many dear friends who meant the world to her.
Dottie served on the Patient Advocacy Committee for Pioneer Physician's and the Easter Seals Board of Trustees. As a member of Saint Francis de Sales Parish in Akron, Ohio, she sang in the Resurrection Choir.
Loyola Retreat House in Green, Ohio, was her home away from home. She was a dedicated volunteer for many years having served on the Board of Trustees. She welcomed all of the Pre-Cana couples to the program at Loyola. She took the opportunity to share some words of wisdom with each and every couple anticipating the sacrament of marriage.
Dottie graduated from Union High School in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She retired from Ameritech after 36 years of service. True to her giving heart, she founded the "Toys of Love" program in 1982. She has always shared how very blessed she was to work with so many loving and giving Ameritech retirees refurbishing damaged toys which were donated to numerous churches and agencies.
Dottie enjoyed bowling, boating, and was a master in advanced knitting. She loved giving her scarves as gifts and had a passion for the prayer shawl ministry as well. Dottie touched so many hearts throughout her life. She was extremely generous, dazzling in appearance, and never met a stranger.
Christ gave her a deep inner strength and comfort that touched the lives of those around her. The Legacy she leaves is that she proudly professed her faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ. The Lesson she evokes is the devotion and conversation with God by asking how He wanted to use her for His Good. Now He has given her His recompense of His Eternal Heaven.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Saturday, April 11 at St. Francis de Sales Parish, 4019 Manchester Road in Akron, where friends may call beginning at 10AM. Dottie will be interred at Castleview Memorial Gardens in New Castle, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Loyola Retreat House, 700 Killinger Road, Clinton OH 44216.
