Dorothy Mae (Sweatt) Bassett

May 25, 1934 — June 10, 2025

Dorothy "Dottie" M. Bassett, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on May 25, 1934, in New Hampshire, Dottie was the daughter of the late George and Ethel Sweatt. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she met.

Dottie had a quiet strength and a deep love for her family. After raising her children, she worked at Beede Electric and later at Duncraft Bird Supply. But it was at home where Dottie's heart truly shone. She was an avid and talented knitter, and it became her trademark to lovingly knit baby sweaters for almost every new baby that came into her life. Her handmade creations were treasured gifts, woven with care and a touch of her gentle spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings George, Richard, Doris, Roger, and Mary.

Dottie is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Maurice "Moe" Bassett, Sr.; her children Maureen (Ron) Horn, Maurice (Kellie) Bassett, Jr., and Tammy (John) Szaflarski; grandchildren Adam, Marissa, Reed, Hunter, Courtney, Stephanie, Erik, and Justin; and great-grandchildren Atticus, Kate, Eliott, Evan, Dylan, A.J., Melissa, Izzy, Covee Jo, Kohen, Penelope, Prudence, and Parker. She also leaves behind her siblings Arthur Sweatt, Annette Vangjel, Michael Sweatt, and Helen Kuss, as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Greenview for their compassionate care of Dottie and their continued care of Maurice.

Services will be announced at a later date. Interment will take place at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, New Hampshire.

Dottie's legacy of love, quiet generosity, and cozy knit sweaters will live on in every heart she warmed
