Diane Kay Touschner

October 22, 1945 — January 13, 2018

Diane passed peacefully at home with family, on January 13 from lung cancer. Diane was born on October 22, 1945, to Jacob and Sophie (Sue) Patrick Warren in Alliance, Ohio. Her early years were spent on her grandparent's farm near Homeworth, Ohio. It was there that the seeds were planted for her lifelong love of the outdoors, nature, adventure, home cooking, and the importance of family, community, and shared work. Diane attended public schools in Alliance, graduating from Alliance High School in 1963. She graduated from Kent State University in 1967 and Washington University in St. Louis in 1972 where she obtained a Master's Degree in Social Work. Except for a few years living and working in Des Moines, Iowa and the Youngstown area, as well as being at home with children when they were very young, she spent the next forty-four years practicing the art of social work in Summit County. Preceded in death by her parents and step-mother, Elizabeth Warren, she leaves her children: Joseph of Washington, DC, Elizabeth of Seattle, Peter of San Francisco, and Kat of Portland, OR. She leaves her ex-husband, Tony Touschner, her companion, Kathy Miller, and her brother, Larry Warren (Sieglinde) of Poland, Ohio. Her family, relatives, and dear friends have been life-enriching as well as caring and compassionate supports throughout her life and especially during her illness. A celebration of Diane's life will take place on Saturday, 12 pm, at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. Family will receive friends from 11 am until the start of the service at Noon. A reception will take place at the funeral home immediately following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Summit Metro Parks, Habitat for Humanity International, the Southern Poverty Law Center, the National Parks, or your favorite charity. A memorial bench will be dedicated in the Munroe Falls Metro Park in accordance with her wishes.
