Denton Hicks, 91, passed away peacefully Friday, October 18 at his home.
Denton was born June 2, 1922 to John and Nora (Hoffman) Hicks in Georgia. He was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in plant maintenance for over 45 years where he met his beloved wife Esther. He was a veteran of the US Navy and was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was a member of the Masons, Tadmor Temple, and the Chapel in Akron. Denny and Esther enjoyed camping in Myrtle Beach annually.
Denton was preceded in death by his beloved wife Esther in 2002, his parents, his brother James Edward Allen and sister Hildred Louise Hicks. He is survived by brother Johnny Hicks, sister Maxine McClees, sister-in-law Dorothy (Fred) Krager and brother-in-law Robert (Sandy) Kasten and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, Oct. 25, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with service immediately following at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St., Akron. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Burial Park. (Anthony, Akron, 330.724.1281, anthonyfh.com)
