Dean Clevenger

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dean A. Clevenger, 69, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on January 17, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Akron on July 8, 1956 to the late Gene & Rose Clevenger. In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his grandparents Frederick & Minnie Clevenger.

Dean worked for the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 18, he enjoyed Breeding and training German Shepherds and had a passion for firearms and a gift for gunsmithing. Dean was a country boy at heart and loved his family.

He is survived by his cherished wife of 42 years Mona Lee (Meadows); his daughter and son-in-law Samantha and DJ Akins; grandchildren Conner Michael & Avery Rose Akins; brothers Daniel (Sondra) & David (Carol) Clevenger; cousins Kelly (Frank) Manzo & Linda (Greg) Ortiz & Kathy Currence & Nancy Posey; nephew Brian Clevenger along with many other family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 5-7 pm, followed immediately by a funeral service at the Anthony Funeral Home - Akron Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. Funeral services will be held at a later date in Almost Heaven West Virginia. Please check later for details.
