David J. Mathey

Tallmadge - David John Mathey, age 66, passed away on October 12, 2022 surrounded by his loving wife and family.
He was born in Alliance, raised in Boardman and settled in Tallmadge, Ohio. Dave graduated from Boardman High School where he played football. He moved to California and started working at General Motors in 1976. He retired from GM Lordstown in 2012 with 36 years of service. After retirement he cut grass for 9 years at Silver Lake Country Club. Dave loved to travel, golf, craft beer, feeding birds and backyard Deer and being outdoors. He enjoyed Lori's cooking, driving his GM truck and loved the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes.
He was preceded in death by his father, John C. Mathey; and nephew, Michael Berry. Dave is survived by his mother, Kathryn L. (nee Emrick); loving wife, Lori; he was proud of his sons, Ben (Ashley) and Sam; siblings, Becky (Steve) Berry, Steve (Julie) Mathey and Doug (Jeanne) Mathey; nieces and nephews, Stephanie, Caitlin (CJ), Travis (Hannah), Maia and Jack; step-children, Amber and Daniel; and many friends.
