David H. "Dave" Galley, 90, passed away on December 2, 2025. He was born October 20, 1935, in Layton, Pennsylvania, to Frank and Dorothy (Baker) Galley, and had been an area resident for most of his life.
Dave served stateside in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and later continued his military career with the Ohio National Guard as a helicopter maintenance specialist.
In earlier years, he ran bird dogs, but his later years were spent enjoying sports, history, and the occasional debate over a little-known fact or historical tidbit. Dave was an enthusiastic golfer who took the game seriously and could be found on the golf course well into his 80s. Sundays belonged to the Browns. Dave loved history and trivia, and even at 90, he was armed with a sharp memory and an ability to impress and bewilder anyone within earshot, often deploying his encyclopedic knowledge at family gatherings and social events to impress his audience.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Nancy. He is survived by his sons and their wives, Mike and Maria Galley, and Jim and Kim Galley; seven grandchildren, Jimmy, Matthew, Kelley, Justin, Nina, Alyssa, and Kara; his great-grandson, "Little" James; and his siblings, Jackie Sharrock and Steve (Lori) Galley, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. A private interment will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, where Dave would no doubt have had a few well-researched trivia nuggets ready for anyone who'd listen.
