Deacon Daniel Matusicky passed peacefully into the hands of Our Lord on October 19, 2025 at the age of 90, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and admiration of his faith, which will be forever remembered.
Daniel was a devoted husband to Phyllis (nee Ham), with whom he shared 66 years of marriage filled with laughter, travel, and unwavering support. Their love story is a beautiful example of enduring commitment. He was a loving father to his three children: Theresa (Pete), Daniel (Karen), and Stephen (Ana). His love extended to his grandchildren Stephen (Terry), Daniel (Missy), Sarah (Zak), Maria (Christopher), Gabby, Jesse, Isabella, and Nathan; two great-grandchildren Vincent and Anneliese; many nephews, nieces, family, friends, and his community.
Daniel's life was rich with experiences. A graduate of Saint Ignatius High School, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. This experience instilled in him a deep sense of patriotism and duty.
After his service, he retired from two successful careers-a painter for the City of Cleveland and one of the first three Deacons in the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland.
His dedication to the church was phenomenal. As a man of faith, Daniel was a generous man who was always there for others. He consistently helped his neighbors with errands and his kindness extended to everyone in need.
Daniel possessed an insatiable curiosity and a zest for life. He was a passionate gardener. He loved exploring with his family and friends, creating memories that will last a lifetime. He taught us about love and he taught us about death - "A simple man of faith, love, hope and wisdom."
