Curtis Ray Waddle

November 13, 1953 — August 14, 2015

Curtis Ray Waddle, 61, died peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on Friday, August 14, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Curt was born in Akron on November 13, 1953 to the late Otis & Alice Waddle, and was a lifelong area resident. He was baptized at Faith Family Church. Curt worked for Monsanto, and then AES/Exxon Mobil, as a Research Scientist Technician. While with AES, Curt invented an improvement to the adhesive properties of thermalplastic elastomers, an achievement for which he is listed on the patent. Retiring from Exxon in 2009, Curt went on to work for Veyance, until his diagnosis with cancer in 2014.
Curtis was musician-both singing and drumming. He loved sports, and even coached his grandson's little league team. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. Curt could always be counted on to make you laugh; his goodhearted nature and kind spirit could make a friend of anyone.
In addition to his parents, Curt was preceded in death by his brother Rodney Bryant. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Sue; children Joshua Waddle, Jasen (Christine) Arrington, Joseph (Tammie) Arrington, & Balinda (Kenny) Genis; grandchildren Jessica, Joshua Curtis, & Jonathan Waddle, Justin, Haley & Jaden Arrington, and Cecily Genis; siblings Anita Randolph, Margie Kinney & Otis Waddle; and great-grandchildren Mia, Helaina & Hallie.
A celebration of life will be held at 1PM on Friday, August 21 at the Anthony Funeral Home, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St, in Akron, where the family will receive friends beginning at 12:30PM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the FirstMerit Bank in the name of the Curtis Waddle Family Benevolent Fund to help the family offset the medical expenses incurred during Curt's lengthy battle with cancer.
