Cornel John Streza, 87, fell asleep in the Lord on Friday, October 18, 2013.
He was born in Cleveland and retired from the Akron Board of Education with over 50 years of service as a school teacher. Cornel was a member of Presentation of Our Lord Orthodox Church and was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II in the South Pacific Theatre. He was part of the Joint Task Force One Atomic Bomb
Test to which he also helped to develop.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha; and is survived by his good friend, Lana Smith; sister, Marie Dumitru; nieces and nephews; and many God-Children.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, 10 a.m. at Presentation of Our Lord Orthodox Church, 3365 Ridgewood Rd. Fairlawn, Ohio 44333 where Cornel will lie in state one hour prior to service. Very Rev. Dr. Ian G. Pac-Urar officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Calling hours will be held Monday, 5 to 7 p.m. at the church where a Saracusta service will be held at 7 p.m. Donations may be made to the church in his memory.
