Christopher Jay Murphy

GREEN - Christopher Jay Murphy, 72, died with his beloved wifeby his side on March 1,
2022.
Chris was born in Akron on October 12, 1949 to the late George & Dorothy Murphy. He
was a 1967 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School. Chris owned and operated Murphy's Golf in Akron for over 35 years. He was a faithful member of St. Paul Catholic Church and was a former parishioner of Nativity of our Lord Jesus Catholic Church in
Springfield Township. Chris was an avid golfer and skilled bridge player. He enjoyed hiking and anything outdoors.
Chris is survived by his wife of 40 years Mary; sons Ryan (Kelsey) & Kyle (Aimee) Murphy; daughter Kate (Alex) Mathis; granddaughter Cecily; step-father Jacques Burrell; brother Scott (Suzanne) Murphy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 6, from 2-5 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 7, at 10:00 am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St. in Akron. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery
