Chester ('Chet', 'Captain', 'Papa') Spear, 92, passed away peacefully
on May 7, with his family by his side.
Born in Akron on December 29, 1921, Chet was a graduate of North High
School and the Hammel School of Business. He went on to serve his
country in the US Army during WWII. He was employed by Akron City Hospital
as a purchasing agent, retiring in 1990. Chet was an avid bridge player.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Eleanor; daughter
Carey (Mike) Clowser and son Ty Spear; former daughter-in-law Karen Spear;
grandchildren Jill, Tracey, Greg, Denise, Erin, Sara, & Chrysa, as well
The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 4-7 pm, at the Anthony
Funeral Home MCGOWAN-REID & SANTOS CHAPEL 247 Stow Ave. (at 3rd. St.,
one block north of Portage Trail in) Cuyahoga Falls. A graveside service
will be conducted by Pastor David Nevergall on Monday, 11 am, at
Chestnut Hill Memorial Park in Cuyahoga Falls. In lieu of flowers,
please make a donation in Chet's memory to the charity of your choice.
