Chet P. Cole, 74, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019 at the Hospice Care Center.

Chet was born June 26, 1945 to the late Lawrence C. and Beverly (Porter) Cole in Melrose, MA and has lived in Ohio most of his life.

Chet is survived by his sons Randy (Cyndra) and Christopher (Kelly) Cole; step children Kasey (Nicall) Vens and Abigail (David) Hand; siblings Cheryl (Don) Diener and Bradford (Cindy) Cole; grandchildren Alex, Eden, Aubrey, Porter and Alden Cole; niece Holly (Ryan) Schell and nephews Bryan, Andrew and David Cole.

A 1963 graduate of Brush High School, Chet excelled as a member of the wrestling team and developed a cadre of friends who have stayed by his side through the years including his recent illness. He is a proud Graduate of The Ohio State University where he earned a degree as a Botany major, instruction which influenced his career and his hobbies.

In his early life, Chet worked as a counselor at Red Raider Camp in Geauga County and William Trickers in Independence. Most of the remainder of his career was spent as an entrepreneur, operating several successful businesses, before retiring to enjoy time with nature as a self described "Gentleman Farmer".

Throughout his life, Chet enjoyed plants, animals and the outdoors as an avid gardener, by raising and breeding dogs, and frequent fishing in Lake Erie and off the coast of Florida.

The family will receive friends Monday, December 30, 2019 at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St., Akron from 3 to 5 pm and will conclude with a funeral service at 5:00 pm. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Audubon Society.
