Charles (Butch) Behra, 70, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021, at Akron City Hospital after a long battle with the effects of Agent Orange exposure during his Army service as a Combat Engineer in the Vietnam War.
Butch was born August 12, 1950, to Richard and Ruth (Davis) Behra in Myersdale PA and had been an area resident most of his life. His family owned Garden Lanes in Akron and he worked as a pin chaser and mechanic while developing a genuine love of the sport. Later his family co-owned Park Center Lanes in North Canton. He was very well known in the area for his many award scores in league and tournament participation. Many lifelong friendships were forged in the bowling community. Always a gifted athlete he played Little League baseball and continued well into his adult years playing softball in very competitive men's leagues and just for fun leagues with good friends. Golf may have been his favorite sport and he was proud to have three holes-in-one. He spent many years working at Seven Hills with wonderful co-workers and was very close to the Gran Family. He was employed as a welder with Specialty Hose Corp.
Butch is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years Deborah (Garnick); children Lesa (Ronald) Lux; grandchildren James (Cassandra) Harrison III and Jessica (Gage Webb) Harrison; great grandchildren Kieran, Ashlynn and Easton Harrison and Serenity, Seriah and Sadie Webb; siblings Susan (Curtis) Bailey and Ann (John) Barber. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Frank and nephew Nicholas Pettitt.
Debbie, Lesa and the Behra family will always remember the loving care he received from Hospice of Summa on 3 East.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 25, 2021, from 4 to 7 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S.
