It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carol Lyn McFarland, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who departed this world peacefully on April 17, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on December 27, 1949, in Akron, Ohio, to the late James and Leona (nee Wilhelm) Spoerndle, Carol led a life marked by compassion, dedication, and a profound commitment to the health and wellbeing of others.
Carol found her calling in the nursing profession and was a proud nursing degree graduate. She spent 50 years at St. Thomas Hospital and Summa Health. Her kind demeanor and unwavering commitment to her patients left an indelible mark on the many lives she touched throughout her career. Carol's nurturing spirit extended beyond her profession; she was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and an amazing grandmother. Her family (and her dogs) were her pride and joy.
Carol will be remembered for her kindness, infectious laughter, feisty spirit, and her ability to make everyone's life a little better. She is survived by her loving husband, Terry; her cherished sons, Kelly (Rebecca) McFarland and Kerry McFarland; her grandchildren, Graham and Zoe; and her brother-in-law Denny (Patty) McFarland. Each of them will carry forward the warmth and love that characterized Carol's life.
Carol's family will receive friends Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home, 3333 Kent Rd., Stow, OH. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 313 N Depeyster St, Kent, OH, with interment to follow in Chestnut Hill Memorial Park, 2613 Sackett Ave, Cuyahoga Falls, OH.
The legacy of Carol Lyn McFarland lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. She remains an inspiration, exemplifying love and resilience, and her spirit will continue to thrive in the countless lives she influenced. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are encouraged to send gifts to the Alzheimer's Association.
