Carol Ann Ray (née Reynolds) of Akron, peacefully passed May 24th after a long and happy life full of close relationships, love and abundant laughter.

Carol was born on December 27, 1937, in Clarksville, Indiana, across the Ohio river from Louisville, Kentucky. She met her husband, Ralph, while he was stationed in nearby Jeffersonville, Indiana, during the Korean War. The newlyweds came to Akron, Ralph's hometown, in 1952, to start a family and begin a life together. They bought the house in SE Akron, on Catawba Avenue in 1955, where they would raise four children and spend the rest of their lives.

When describing herself, Carol often said "my life is my kids," and anyone who knew her could attest that this was so. Moreover, she simply liked people, enjoyed being with others, and had the gift of gab.

Carol will long be remembered for her healthy sense of humor and hearty laughter, her friendliness and caring heart, and for the many relationships she forged. She loved cooking and would often take cooked meals or desserts to those who were housebound or infirm.

She was a member of Eastern Star's Billow chapter and served as an escort for one year. She worked as a crossing guard for the Akron Public schools and would often tell of the many children she came to know.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, Sr., her sons, David Ray and Dan Ray, and her son-in-law, Paul Kamlowsky. She is survived by her son, Ralph C. Ray, Jr., and his wife Louise of Akron; daughter, Gail Lynne Kamlowsky of Tallmadge; her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Ray of Tallmadge; and grandchildren, Emma Wartko (Ben), Michael Kamlowsky (Kelly), Daniel W. Ray (Meghan), Logan and Lindsay Ray and five great-grandchildren. She leaves dear friends Jenny Meyers, Loretta Ruffner, and Mary Muha.
