Carl S. Mashek, 88, passed away on March 3, 2026.

Carl was born on May 18, 1937 to the late Steve & Ethel Mashek and was a 1955 graduate of North High School. Carl served his country as a member of the US Army prior to the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Captain. He received his Bachelor's in Education from the Universtiy of Akron and later attained his Master's Degree from Kent State University. Carl attended Zion Lutheran Church in Akron. Carl retired from Akron Public Schools and last served as the principal at Jackson Elementary School.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his brother Rev. John D. Mashek. He is survived by his children Sheryl Plath, Daniel (Dawn) Mashek, Kimberly Mashek, & Steven (Kris) Mashek; grandchildren Nick Plath, Christine (John) Wurgler, Matthew Mashek, Tyler Mashek, David (Ariel) Plath, Hannah (Matt) Winkler, Christopher Sipe, Emily Stewart, & Sara Stewart; great-grandchildren Preston & Kayla.

A Celebration of Carl's life will take place on Thursday, March 12, 7 pm, with the family receiving friends beginning at 5:30PM at the Anthony & Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home 3333 Kent Rd. in Stow. Interment will take place at Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Cuyahoga Falls.
