Carl Anthony Garafolo, 93, passed away peacefully Monday, January 31, 2022. After a very healthy and blessed life, his heart had simply worn out. His time had come.
Carl was born April 27, 1928 to Salvadore and Antonina (Crimaldi) Garafolo in Akron and had been an area resident his entire life. He was employed by General Tire & Rubber Company as a Machinist and also at Jay-Em Corp. He also worked part time at JKL Advertising Company before retiring. He was a faithful and long-time member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Green and had been a member of the Ellet Council of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed bowling with his fellow Knights. and played lots of bingo in his later years. Carl was preceded in death by his first wife Charlotte (Bruckman), second wife Theresa (Ricciardi), and third wife Helga (Hingst), all of whom Carl cared for lovingly during their final illnesses; siblings Angie Antos, Tony Piporo, Bessie Pisciotta, Jimmy Piporo and Mary Hawanczak. He is survived by his children Donna (Steve) Walters, Mary (Patrick) Davis, Diana Baskin, Patricia (Danny) Justus, David (Linda) Lange, Vonnie (Al) LaRue, Dan (Donna) Lange, Heidi Coup, Wendy (Mike) Leslie and Tammy (Pablo) Gayhart, special goddaughter Nicola Ricciardi; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Carl's unshakable faith in God, which he shared freely, his love for his family and his many friends were the bedrock of his life. He could converse with anyone for hours. Everyone was special in carl's eyes. He will be greatly missed by many friends, young and old alike. He was so ready to meet his Savior! In his words, "I am going out one door and into another." And he did!
The family will receive friends Sunday, February 6, 2022 from 2 to 4 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home of Green, 4178 Massillon Road (corner of Massillon and Steese Roads, entrance off Steese). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 7, 2022 at 11:00 am at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Rd., Uniontown OH 44685, where the family will receive friends from 10:30 am. Donations may be made to Queen of Heaven Church.
