Brian Gerard Jonke

Brian Jonke, 57, of Tallmadge Ohio passed away unexpectedly on July 31, 2026.

Brian was born on August 26, 1968, in Akron, Ohio to Gerard and Susan (Sanders) Jonke. He graduated from Garfield Highschool and went on to serve a four-year apprentice with the Stone and Marble Masons Local Union #1 in Washington D.C. Brian was a highly accomplished as a mason, he spent decades mastering his trades, his projects including the Pentagon, and the Duke University Cathedral. He was also a volunteer Firefighter / EMT with Libertytown fire department in Maryland. Brian volunteered with troop 361 Tallmadge Boy Scouts as an assistant scout master.

He was a big fan of the Tallmadge High School Bowling team always cheering on his son and his teammates.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Josiah Courtney and Alice Sanders; Francis Joseph and Bertha Jonke, and mother-in-law Linda DePrato.

Brian is survived by his parents Gerard and Susan Jonke, wife Michelle (DePrato) Jonke; son Chase Jonke; daughter Chelsea Jonke; grandson Adrian; brother Eric (Jennifer) Jonke, David (Mary) Jonke; brother-in-law Robert DePrato, sister-in-law Cristina (Brian) Jones and numerous other family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 9:30 to 10:30 am at St. Bernard Catholic Church 44 University Ave, Akron, OH 44308 where a mass will take place at 10:30 am. Internment will immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery -Akron.
