Betty Shatrick

Betty Shatrick, 88, passed away Thursday September 21, 2017 at The Briarwood Assisted Living.
Betty was born February 19, 1929 to Harry and Pauline (Wilson) Phillips in Akron and had been an area resident her entire life. She was employed by the University of Akron as an auditor for over 31 years, retiring in 1993. She was a very active member of St. Demetrius Serbian Orthodox Church and the Kolo Srpskih Sestara.
Because Mom was an only child, she embraced the Shatrick family when she married Milan (Monk) Shatrich in 1952. She was predeceased by Dad almost 17 years to the day of his death. She was also preceded by her in-laws Irene Tokich, Lela and Louie Lontchar, Olga and James Musarra and Daniel Shatrich. She is survived by her children Gail (Jerry) Manning and Gary (Amy) Shatrick; grandchildren Dr. Aaron (Dr. Qiuxian Zheng) Korora, Adrianne (Terry) Tanner and Abigail, Benjamin and Rachel Shatrick; sister-in-law Cosie Shatrick; many nieces and nephews.
For nearly the last 7 years, Mom has lived at The Briarwood in Assisted Living. We are grateful to all the staff for their care, love and support, including John Rowe, AL Director, nurses Lyndell, Pat and Jessica, aides Helen, Priscilla, Debbie and her favorite aide Tammy. You gave us Mom for an extra 7 years for which we will be eternally grateful.
Mom had many friends at The Briarwood including her best friend Virginia Lawson and Virginia's family Tracy and Steve Montgomery. Virginia and Mom spent most every day together for the past 7 years.
The family will receive friends Thursday 4 to 8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron, where a Parastas service will be held Thursday at 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be held Friday at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. V. Rev. George Mileusnich officiating. Interment Greenlawn Memorial Park.
