Betty Zane Mesko

Betty Z. Mesko, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at her home surrounded by family.

Born in Waterloo, Alabama to the late Turner and Annie Saddler, Betty came to Akron in the 1950s, where she met her late husband John Mesko. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother. She was a faithful member of the East Liberty Church of the Nazarene. Betty enjoyed watching Cleveland baseball and the Game Show Network. To know her was to love her; she will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years John. She is survived by her children Kim (Steve) Matheny, John, Andy (Cindy), & Tina Mesko (Tristan); 9 grandchildren & 8 great-grandchildren; sisters Peggy Jones and Rose Holt; and sister-in-law Elaine Stout.

Special thanks to all of Betty's caregivers, especially Ginny Dugger and Vicky Hamby, for their compassionate care of our mother.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 from 5-7PM at the Anthony Funeral Homes-Akron Chapel, 1990 S Main St in Akron. A funeral service will be held at 12Noon on Thursday, April 16 at the East Liberty Church of the Nazarene, 700 East Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron OH 44319, where the family will receive friends beginning at 11AM. Burial at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery immediately following. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
