Bernard D Steinly

Bernard Steinly, 94, passed away on December 22, 2022.
Bernard was born to Lulu and Robert Steinly on July 21,1928 in Somerset, PA. He was preceded in death by Margret Anna Haver, his loving wife of 52 years. The couple were married at Thayer Street church of Christ on June 14, 1957. Bernard is survived by his sister: Carol Lockhart and Brother Harold Steinly; children Duane Steinly, Rebecca Underwood, and Sharon Hodgson; grandchildren Audrina Albrecht, Billy Albrecht, Randi Nichole Carter, Amanda Cisco, Michael Steinly and Melanie Siedenstrang.
Bernard was a humble and faithful servant of our Lord and Savior, he will be remembered as a member of the Brown Street church of Christ. He is remembered, as an American Patriot, serving state-side as an aircraft mechanic during the Korean War 1951-1955, and as a 27 year employee of the General Tire and Rubber Company. He was an accomplished business owner, founding Steinly's Restaurant Inc. of Akron, Ohio. His restaurant on Waterloo Rd. is presently an Akron landmark representing the best in home-cooking. It was a warm and welcoming place for families to meet and enjoy one anothers company.
Bernard truly practiced and believed that the most important thing in life was to love God with all your heart and soul and to treat your neighbor as yourself. For his family, whom he loved and cherished, a bright path has been left to follow.
A funeral service will take place on Friday, December 30, at 11:30 am at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment with full military honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
