Benny L. Hill (Jan 15, 1934 - August 21, 2022)
Benny L. Hill died August 21, 2022 with his children by his side in the quiet peacefulness of his home following a brief battle with cancer.
He was the 7th of nine children raised in Colver, Pennsylvania by Bert & Emma (Makins) Hill. As a teenager, he visited Akron during the summer where he lived with his sister and worked construction with his brothers. In 1951, he permanently relocated to Akron when hired by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. He remained there as a hard working, loyal employee for the next 44 years. Along with being a tire builder, he was active as a Union representative & United Way committee member.
He was a member of Nativity of the Lord Catholic Church where he devoutly served as a Eucharistic Minister, We Care volunteer, Adoration adorer, and was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed his time as a social member at the Army Navy Garrison Post 102.
Benny's devotion to his wife & family were witnessed & admired by all who knew him. He loved traveling and he and his wife saw much of the world together. More recently, his trips were to his favorite places: Colver, the Outer Banks, and the family cabin in Hearts Content, PA. Well into his 80's, he could be found boating on the Allegheny Reservoir, and taking care of everything he was so proud of; his home, yard, and vehicles.
Benny is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Ann (Kwasny); son, Benny; and siblings Jesse, Norman, Elnora, Crist, Albert, Robert, and Jean.
He will be deeply missed by his family - son, Craig; daughter, Karen (Neil) Harlock; grandsons, Dr. Benjamin Hill & Steven Hill; granddaughters, Rachel (Benjamin) Rubenstein & Melissa Harlock; sister, Doris Datsko; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews & friends he made during his wonderful life of 88 blessed years.
Family & friends will be received on Saturday, August 27, 2022, from 9 to 11 am at Nativity of the Lord Catholic Church, 2425 Myersville Rd., Akron 44312. A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11:00 am. Interment East Liberty Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Benny's name may be made to Nativity of the Lord Catholic Church.
