Beatrice C. Clauss, 100, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2025.
She was born in Hastings, Pennsylvania and was an Akron area resident since 1942. Beatrice was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Church Altar & Rosary Society and Holy Hour. She was a lifetime member of Firestone VFW Post 3383 Auxiliary. During World War II, she was a "Rosie the Riveter". She was also a member of St. Francis Card and Social Club. Beatrice retired from Kmart retail in 1993 after 16 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elizabeth (McMullen) Greenland; husband, Howard J. Clauss; son, Howard "Ted" Clauss; daughters, Lois J. Clauss and Jeanne M. Kovac; brothers, Patrick A., Regis E., Robert A., Eugene G. and Clayton J. Greenland; and sisters, Luba Weakland, Helen Rogers and Catherine Bott. She is survived by her sons, John H. (Carol), Patrick E. (Chae), Larry M. (Lisa) and David A. Clauss; daughters, Linda C. (David) Waldsmith and Grace A. (Marvin) Ortscheid; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Clauss; grandchildren, Diane Thomas, Michelle Wall, Vicki Vega, Shaun Clauss, Michael Kovac, Sheena Fusilier, Trey Clauss, Vincent Schuyler, Steven Schuyler, Justin Ortscheid and Lisa Ortscheid; 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great granddaughters.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron, Ohio 44301. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 30, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Akron. Fr. Bill Brown celebrant. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron.
