GREEN - Barbara June (McCaffrey) Plum, 86, passed away on August 8, 2025. She was born May 21, 1939 in Akron to James McCaffrey and Mildred (Kane) McCaffrey Rogers. Barbara was a 1957 graduate of Coventry High School. After high school, she attended the University of Akron. She curtailed those studies to marry and start a family. After a number of years as a full-time homemaker, she returned to the University of Akron where she received her bachelor's degree in accounting in 1978. She began her career at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in 1979. She went on to provide over 21 years of dedicated service to the company in various accounting and information technology roles, retiring in 2001. Shortly after her retirement from Goodyear, she went to work as a part-time cashier at Giant Eagle / Market District in Green, retiring for the second time in 2020.
Barbara was a member of The Chapel in Green, and a long-time resident of the Retirement Residence of Green. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, co-worker, and friend. She could always be found supporting the endeavors of those she loved. She was a long-time fan of the Cleveland Guardians (who she continued to refer to as the "Indians"), the Cleveland Browns, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and PGA golf tournaments. She never turned down an opportunity to attend a live sporting event, visit an amusement park, travel to a casino, or play Bingo! Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family.
In addition to her parents; Barbara was preceded in death by her step-father, Paul Rogers; brother, Bill Rogers; friend and former husband, David Plum, Sr.; and her son, Donald Plum. She is survived by her sons: David (Maureen) Plum, Jr. of Green, and Douglas (Kim) Plum of Akron; her daughter-in-law, Linda Plum; her nine grandchildren, Olivia (Jonathan) Kurcsak, Hannah (Isaac) Mang, Douglas Plum, Chloe (Connor) Haskins, Alycia (Brandon) Young, Nathan Snyder, Rachel (fiancé, Jeremy Hugg) Plum, Ryan Plum, and Spencer Plum; her twelve great grandchildren, Haddon, Eleanor, Henry, Jack, Hazel, Thaddeus, Josiah, Peter, Clarence, Winifred, Grover, and Peyton; sister-in-law, Jane Plum; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
