Annie H. Malivuk, two weeks shy of her 98th birthday, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Akron General Medical Center after a brief illness.
Annie was born March 16, 1923 to George and Agnes (Rozsa) Horvath in Akron and had been an Akron resident her entire life. She was a graduate of Central High School. She married her husband Sam May 18, 1947. Her most important career was as a wife and mother to her late husband and four children John (dec.), Daniel, Rozanne and Charles. She also worked in the kitchen for the Harvey Firestone Jr. family, Goodyear during WWII, Leon's Restaurant and Akron Children's Home.
Her loves in life were her family, music, dancing, sports, knitting and crocheting. She could be seen watching a ballgame on TV, listening to one on the radio and one on a handheld device. Her knitting talents provided countless babies with comfortable sweaters and blankets. She was fortunate to be a breast cancer survivor and met any challenge in her life with grace, never uttering a complaint about anything. Widowed after 34 years of marriage she learned to drive at the age of 60 opening a new world of experiences. She enjoyed ethnic line dancing at the Croatian Club in Akron, the Hungarian American Club and at the Serbian Church festivals. She loved crossword puzzles and had an amazing ability to recall dates and numbers. She loved trivia, was a Jeopardy fan and won most of the trivia contests at Concordia at Sumner.
The family is grateful to the nursing and program staffs at Concordia at Sumner and the nurses at Akron General.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son John and siblings Goldie Deckon and Frank Horvath. Annie is survived by her children Daniel (Carol), Rozanne and Charles (Julie) Malivuk; grandchildren Jason Malivuk, Tayler (Michael) Simmons and Nicole Malivuk; sister Nellie Mandi; and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive family and friends Sunday, March 7, 2021 from 2 to 4 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S.
