Angeliki "Angie" Tsoflias (nee Thrappas), 90, passed away unexpectedly on May 1, 2026, in Akron, Ohio.
Born in Agios Georgios Sikousis, Chios, Greece, on October 9, 1935, Angeliki was the daughter of the late Lemonia Thrappas (née Parikas). She immigrated to New Jersey in December 1957, where she worked diligently as a professional seamstress, and proudly became a U.S. citizen five years later.
In September 1962, Angeliki married her beloved husband, Soterios Stanley Tsoflias, and together they built a wonderful life for 61 years, in New Jersey and Ohio.
Angeliki was a devoted member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Akron, where she worshipped regularly and enjoyed luncheons with the Golden Greeks. She volunteered weekly at the church's gyro luncheons and served as the chef at the Greek Community Center, preparing meals for weddings, baptisms, makarias, parties, and many other celebrations. She took great pride in her cooking, in bringing people together, and feeding everyone.
Angeliki and her family were deeply involved in church life, participating in church services, dances, and community activities and gave back to their church in many ways. They embraced the church as an extension of their family.
Angeliki's feistiness, warm laugh, and twinkle in her eye filled a room. She had a wonderful sense of humor and found happiness in socializing with her neighbors and many friends, while staying in touch with relatives throughout the United States, Greece, and Australia. Above all, Angeliki cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her beloved grandson, Sotiri.
In addition to her mother, Angeliki was preceded in death by her husband, Soterios, and her sisters Kyriaka Kollis, Vasilia Milonas, and brother Isidoros Thappas. She is survived by her loving family: Kaliopi, Savvas, Lemonia, Soterios, Cecilia, her sister Helen Merias, and her brother George (Dolores) Thrappas, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, friends, and neighbors.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Building Fund at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, in Akron, OH.
Visitation / viewing will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026 from 3:30 to 6:00 pm at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 129 S. Union St, Akron, OH, with a Trisagion Service at 5:30 pm.
At a date to be announced, funeral services will be held in Washington, D.C. Interment will immediately follow at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA, where Angeliki will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Soterios, a decorated veteran.
