Aleksandra Wojcik

Aleksandra (Ala) Wojcik, 72, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at her home with her family by her side.

Aleksandra was born February 19, 1946 to Wladyslaw Weglarz and Zofia (Mastalska) Weglarz in Szczawnica, Poland. In 1972 she married the love of her life, Henry Wojcik who brought her to her new home-Akron, Ohio. Aleksandra was employed by Giant Eagle in the bakery department for over 25 years retiring in 2006. In her spare time, she enjoyed tending to her orchids and flower garden as well as going on vacations to the beach with her family. Aleksandra was a talented cook who loved to cook and share her delicious traditional polish recipes.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church where she was an active member of the Altar Society and St. Vincent de Paul Auxiliary. In addition, Aleksandra was also heavily involved in Polish fraternal organizations. She served as Financial Secretary for PRCUA Society 2248, and was a member of PNA Lodge 1099, PLAV Post 32 and the Polish American Citizens Club.

Aleksandra was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; brother, Czeslaw Weglarz and her parents. She is survived by children, Arthur Wojcik and Adrianne (Rick) Brown; grandchildren, Anthony and Nate Brown; sister, Krystyna (Joe) Szewczyk; nephew, Yuri Szewczyk (Samantha Morrison); sister-in-law, Jadwiga Weglarz of Poland; niece, Agata (Marek) Majewski of Dubai; as well as many extended family and close friends.

The family will receive friends Monday, 5 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St., Akron, Ohio. Funeral services will begin Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home and continue at 10 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 164 W Market Street, Akron, OH 44303. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Auxiliary c/o the church.
