Ronald Gander, 84, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2019.
Born in Youngstown on February 10, 1935 to the late Clifford & Thelma Gander, Ron was a graduate of Rayen High School, and went on to attend Kent State University. He worked in sales his entire career. Ron was a member of the Cuyahoga Falls Jay-cees, the National Rifle Association, the Oktoberfest Committee, was an integral part of the Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Rec Youth Tennis Program, as well as the Parks and Rec High School boys Basketball League. He was a tennis coach at Cuyahoga Falls High School and Walsh Jesuit High School. He was a USTA official and Past-President of the Northeast Ohio Tennis Association.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his wife Carol, sister Betty Rae Ziegler, and daughter-in-law Joni Gander. He is survived by his children Ronna (Randy) Smith, Sandy (Bob) Heffelman, & Brett (Kathy Boxler) Gander; brother Charles Gander; grandchildren Jessica (Derek) Angeloni, Zac (Jenn) Mullenix, Kevin (Christina) Lord, Rob (Emily) Heffelman, Kristin Heffelman, Madison Gander, Mikayla Gander, & Brydon Boxler; 11 great-grandchildren
The family will receive friends on Friday, Sept. 20th, from 4-7 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel, 247 Stow Ave. (at Third Street, one block north of Portage Trail) in Cuyahoga Falls. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 12 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Cuyahoga Falls.
