Helen Marcolini Francek
Helen was born to Italian immigrants, Natalina and Antonio Marcolini on June 28, 1917 in Sagamore, PA; and was the oldest of 8 children.
She formerly lived in Brownsville (Denbo), Pennsylvania, Ravenna, Ohio, Fort Pierce, Florida and most recently resided in Green, Ohio.
She only attended school through 8 grades, but was well versed in life’s many lessons.
She married Michael J Francek Sr., a union that would thrive for 54 years, and had 3 children, as well as 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Helen was nicknamed Granny Great by her great grandsons and that name stayed with her during her life. All of her friends and family referred to her as Granny Great or Granny!
This remarkable lady lived an unassuming life that demonstrated in countless ways her dedication to the welfare of her family and others.
Helen never formally worked but she was a dedicated wife, mother & homemaker. Everyone loved her cooking…especially the homemade ravioli and pizelles. She found time to volunteer at St. Anastasia Catholic school and at local Fort Pierce grade schools where she was honored as Volunteer of the Year.
Helen celebrated her 100th Birthday with family and friends on Saturday, June 24, 2017 and on Wednesday, June 28th with friends at Green View Senior Living. The City of Green was proud to honor her as one of their Centenarians.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Michael J Francek Sr. and daughter, Nancy J Losko (Michael) of Fort Pierce, FL, Sisters; Ida Habaly & Louise Priest, Brothers; Samuel Marcolini, William Marcolini, Albert Marcolini & Anthony Marcolini. She is survived by her brother, James Marcolini (Patty) of Bedford Heights, OH, daughter, Marlene E Betti (Julio) of Lodi, CA; son, Michael J Francek Jr. (Karen) of Green, OH; granddaughter, Sondra Quatraro (Harry) of Fort Pierce, FL; grandsons, Michael Darney, Dennis Darney (Becky), Brian Darney (Nancee), Jeffrey Francek (Missi), Kevin Francek (Sara) as well as 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
